Five WNYers to serve on search committee for SUNY chancellor

Five Western New Yorkers have been named to a committee formed to conduct a nationwide search for a successor to State University of New York Chancellor Thomas A. Bartlett.

Bartlett, who has served as chancellor since 1994, announced April 30 that he would resign as chancellor by June 15.

Thomas F. Egan, chair of the SUNY Board of Trustees, announced formation of the search committee May 2. Egan will chair the committee, which includes members of the Board of Trustees, campus presidents, the SUNY Faculty Senate president, elected leaders of the Student Assembly, a representative from a campus College Council, central and campus administration representatives and a leadership representative of United University Professions.

"We must begin immediately to seek a replacement for Tom Bartlett," Egan said. "I am sorry that Tom is leaving, but I respect his decision. And I am very pleased that he will be working with the board to advise us on next steps."

Local representatives named to the SUNY Chancellor Search Committee are:

Arnold B. Gardner, SUNY Board of Trustees; Pamela R. Jacobs, SUNY Board of Trustees; Muriel Moore, president, Buffalo State College; Molly McKeown, deputy to the president for university relations at UB; Blake Walker, treasurer, Student Assembly, Buffalo State College.

In addition, members of the SUNY Chancellor Search Committee include:
